Is BulletProof Coffee the Key Weight Loss Trick You’ve Been Missing?

If you haven’t heard of bulletproof coffee by now… where tf have you been girl? Let me give you the quick low down:

True “bulletproof coffee” is coffee that’s loaded up with grass-fed butter (1-2 tbsp) and MCT Oil (1 tbsp). So I’m sure you can see why this fad diet has blown up in the Keto community… it’s essentially just black coffee with fats added to it!

As with every fad diet, there are tons of claimed benefits to bulletproof coffee. Here’s some of the benefits I’ve seen floating around:

  • Enhances Weight Loss
  • Increases Metabolism
  • Improves Mental Clarity & Productivity
  • Increases Energy Levels
  • Controls Appetite
  • Fixes Ur Whole Life

Okay obviously kidding on the last one, but I’m sure you feel me on that. So many of these fad diets have a laundry list of apparent benefits that make you feel like you’re crazy to not be doing it.

As with everything health & fitness related, I always like to take what I find with a grain of salt and try it out for myself before blindly buying into any of the hype I see online. I also like to put my own twist on things and make it my own! Which is exactly what I’ve done with bulletproof coffee.

I’ve never tried true bulletproof coffee with grass-fed butter & MCT Oil. Coffee is easily one of my favorite parts of the day. The thought of adding butter to my coffee every morning genuinely makes me wanna gag. So that’s a no from me! Instead, here’s my version of bulletproof coffee:

  • Black Coffee
  • 1/2-1 tbsp Unrefined Coconut Oil
  • Splash of Califia Farms Unsweetened Creamer (Dairy Free & Sugar Free aka Abbey approved- YAY!)

This combination tastes SO good. The coconut oil makes it so sweet, and the creamer just adds that extra bit of creamy goodness to take the bitter bite out of the coffee. Here’s some other ingredients you could add to make your own little at-home latte:

  • Pink Himalayan Salt (sounds weird, but it’s my fave)
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla
  • Stevia

Of course, I’m not expecting to get all the benefits of traditional bulletproof coffee because I’m not using either of the ingredients that it calls for. BUT I have found that just adding that extra bit of healthy fats with the coconut oil helps to control my appetite & hunger levels. This is amazing for me because if you know me, you know I am hungry 24/7 and have an appetite that is slightly concerning.

KEEP IN MIND: If you want to use bulletproof coffee (either the real stuff or my version) for weight loss, it has to control your appetite to the point where you are eating less calories. If you’re eating the same exact amount of calories each day and just adding in extra calories via healthy fats & creamers, this of course is not going to cause you to lose weight.

Would I recommend my version of bulletproof coffee? 100%! Would I recommend bulletproof coffee with grass-fed butter and MCT Oil? I can’t say because I’ve never tried it! I’ll leave that up to you.

What do you think? Have you tried bulletproof coffee? Are you going to try my recipe?

Can’t wait for more health, fitness & beauty content? I got you:
