Top 3 Ways To Detox Your Body (Especially After A Holiday Vacation)

We are officially 4 days post 4th of July so let me guess… you’re looking for a quick & easy way to detox from all the junk you ate/drank over the holiday weekend ASAP.

Wellll I’m here to help with that. While I think a lot of “detox” remedies are just straight up bogus (to put it bluntly), there are a few things I always like to do after a bender of unhealthy foods and a few too many cocktails.

Decrease Inflammation

Odds are you spent the holiday weekend eating more processed foods than you normally would on an average week. Processed foods that are high in sugar and/or fat trigger hormonal fluctuations in the body which lead to inflammation. If those foods are high in sodium, even worse- you’re likely retaining a lot more water than you normally would as well, causing you to feel extra bloated!

The best way to decrease inflammation in your body is to chill on the foods that cause inflammatory responses, and instead load up on anti-inflammatory foods (i.e. fruits & veggies).

You can also help your body out by drinking anti-inflammatory concoctions like this one:

ACV Detox Drink

  • Warm water
  • Fresh Squeezed Lemon
  • 2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Fresh Ginger
  • Fresh Turmeric

If you don’t like the taste of turmeric, you can find it in capsule form as well! I sometimes even break those capsules open to apply on top of breakouts to reduce swelling & irritation. Yay for a two in one!

In With the Vitamins

Not only do processed, fatty, sugary, salty foods cause inflammation in the body, but they also provide us with little to no nutritional benefits (but I don’t have to tell you that). This is why I’m a fan of vitamins. They help to cover your bases when you’re not eating a perfect diet that covers every single one of your vitamin requirements (who has the time to worry about that anyway?). My favorite detox-y vitamins/supplements?

  • Fish Oil- To decrease inflammation
  • Milk Thistle- To help remove toxins from the liver after drinking
  • Multi Vitamin- To replenish your body with vitamins you’re lacking in & help to ease the hangover pain

Hydration, Hydration, Hydration

Yeah, yeah, yeah we get it. Drink water. But really. Making sure you’re rehydrating your body is a must to help flush toxins out of your body, decrease bloating and increase energy levels.

But I’m not just talking about rehydrating the body… Your skin needs to be rehydrated too! Especially if you spent all weekend laying in the sun. Post holiday is the perfect time to apply your favorite moisturizing face mask to give your skin some extra love.

My absolute favorite of all time is the Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask. It’s amazing for dry, irritated, dull skin and feels super nice & cooling to apply. Just has that soothing touch, ya know?
