My Top 6 Favorite Foundations of All Time

favorite foundations, best foundations, affordable foundations, high end foundations, luxury foundations, lancome teint idole ultra wear foundation, l'oreal, loreal infallible 24hr freshwear foundation, too faced born this way foundation, NARS sheer glow foundation, dir forever 24h skin perfecting matte foundation, maybelline fit me matte and poreless foundation, foundation review, drugstore foundation, longwear foundation, lightweight foundation, long lasting foundation, natural foundation

Foundation has become my latest makeup obsession ever since I started putting more effort into my skincare routine. Like if I’m putting all this work into getting glowy, youthful skin, then I need a foundation that’s going to work with me and not against me! Agreed?

PS: I chat through my entire skincare routine in this YouTube video:

That means I’m super picky about my foundations. Here are my requirements:

  • Long-Wearing
  • Lightweight
  • Natural, Skin-Like Finish (think subtle radiance without getting oily)
  • Comfortable Wear
  • Medium to Full Coverage (depending on my mood you know)

Of course, foundation is going to wear differently on everyone depending on skin texture, type, etc. For reference, I’d say I have normal/combination skin that can lean a little bit oily in the summer and a little bit dry in the winter (lol, so helpful Abbey!!!). Ok, let’s chat brands!

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation

This is my favorite of all time. It’s so lightweight it literally feels like I’m wearing nothing! TBH I really can’t imagine anyone disliking this, but I think you’ll especially love it if you have skin that is normal to oily. The finish is a soft matte so it helps to keep oils at bay without looking flat or dry! It also lasts forever on my skin. Like I used to fall asleep in it in college & wake up looking fresh & clean forever (#regrets). The best!

L’Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation

A drugstore foundation for $14.99 made it into my Top 6?! YEP. I totally don’t discriminate. If a product works, it works. To be honest I think this is currently my second favorite… All I gotta say is where tf has this been my whole life, L’Oreal? It is so gorgeous I think I’d cry if it was ever discontinued. The finish is more on the radiant side, which I love because then I look like I just got a facial 30 minutes ago at all times. Anything that can make me look like I’m glowing from within, I am all about.

Dior Forever 24h Wear High Perfection Skin-Caring Matte Foundation

Holy that name is so dramatically long but honestly, I get it, because it does exactly what it says. My skin just looks so good when I’m wearing this. This one took me awhile to come around to (probably because it’s the priciest foundation I’ve ever purchased and secretly wanted to hate it), but I finally came to my senses and realized that this is an amazing foundation. I love a matte foundation that perfects your skin but still looks like skin, you know? You know. You’ll hate to love it.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation

If you were shocked by the L’Oreal addition, you’re going to be even more shocked now because this foundation is $7.99… you’re welcome in advance! I honestly didn’t think I’d ever find an amazing drug store foundation until I discovered this a couple years ago. It really does just make my skin look poreless and flawless. If you listened to the Ask Abbey Podcast Episode #24 where I interviewed my mom about skincare, you know she’s no BS when it comes to skin. Which is why I knew this foundation was the real deal when she asked what foundation I was wearing almost every time I wore it!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

My skin used to be more on the oily side, so I never used to touch glowy foundations. Now that my skin type has changed to just “normal” as I’ve gotten older, I am HERE for a glowy foundation. Like I just want to look like the sun is softly shining on my face, ok? (without the UVA & UVB rays of course, don’t be crazy). This foundation is so stunning. Don’t let the word “sheer” fool you- I’d consider this to be a medium buildable foundation. This is the glowiest foundation in my collection, and I personally wouldn’t be able to wear anything glowier or it would look too dewy on me. If you have oily skin this is probably a no for you, but don’t worry! The next and last foundation in my Top 6 will be more up your alley.

Too Faced Born This Way Undetectable Medium to Full Coverage Foundation

It took me forever to jump on this bandwagon because I was perfectly content with my little foundation family of five for awhile. But of course I finally caved and I’m so glad I did! It smooths out my skin so nicely and again, just looks flawless! I find that this foundation looks the most full coverage and matte on me than any of my other foundations, so I like to go in with less product so it doesn’t look too heavy. But you could also go in with a normal amount of product to achieve that really full coverage look if that’s more your vibe! Either way, you can make it work for you.

Are any of these foundations your current favorite? If not, which one are you now dying to try?!
