These 2 Foods Are The Reason Your Skin Is Breaking Out

If you’re up to date on Ask Abbey content, you know that I spent the last two years suffering from hormonal acne. It started out as a zit here and there on my chin, but before I knew it I was never without some sort of breakout on my chin or jawline. More often than not, the breakouts were cystic and they HURT. If you’ve dealt with this or are currently dealing with this… I feel your pain! I spent months and months researching how to cure my skin. Through vitamins, topical products & improving my diet, I finally have clear skin again! (Knock on wood). Make sure to listen this podcast where I explain hormonal acne in depth and all the things that worked for me when clearing up my skin, and read this blog post so you know the vitamins that I take every single day to help prevent breakouts. One hormonal acne related topic that I haven’t discussed in a ton of detail yet is diet, and the role that the foods …

ColourPop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks: Swatches of The Best 9 Shades

If you watched my May Favorites YouTube video from last week, you know how obsessed I am with the ColourPop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks. It’s the perfect lip formula in my opinion. The lasting power is longer than a traditional lipstick, but it doesn’t have that same dry look and feel that matte liquid lipsticks have. And it fades much more subtly than a matte liquid lipstick. It truly has a “satin” like finish on the lips, which makes it super comfortable to wear! Not to mention, these lipsticks are so cheap. Like $7 cheap. Ready to stock up? Here are my absolute favorite shades to help you narrow down your selection: (Click the name of the lipstick to be taken to ColourPop’s site!) How to Apply Self Tanner Like a Pro

June means it is officially summertime (!!!). Which also means it’s officially time to have to worry about looking bronzed & glowy again. Maintaining a tan all summer with a 9-5 job is honestly way harder than I thought it would be. I swear it’s sunny & warm all work week long just in time to rain on the weekends. AND ALSO. The sun = wrinkles. So as good as it feels to lay out in the sun, I’m kind of over it. Hats, sunscreen & self-tanner are my new best friends. To learn all about my SPF & anti-aging tips & tricks, listen to my podcast where I chat all about those topics HERE! Don’t get me wrong, self tanner can be a b*tch to deal with. It can turn out streaky and orange (ew) if you’re not careful. So I’m here to help ladies! After a few years of playing around with self tanners, I officially have application down to a T. Want to apply self tanner like a pro? Here’s how to …

The Amazing CC Cream That Protects Your Skin From Fine Lines, Wrinkles, and Brown Spots!

I absolutely love testing out new makeup products. Finding something new that you’re obsessed with is so fun. And if you know me, you know I’ve tried a lottttt of products. Like a lot. So I’m going to start a new series on this blog where I highlight one product I’ve tried and tell you all my thoughts. Today’s star: IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream. Have you ever felt like there’s no good way to protect your skin from the sun while wearing makeup? Same. I always felt like it was a take your pick situation: foundation or sunscreen. A lot of the foundations that I’ve seen that have SPF literally have like SPF 15. At that point you might as well be wearing no SPF. This is why I love the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. You finally get to do both! It has SPF 50 (yaaaaas) so it’s actually protecting your skin from sun damage. But it also looks amazing on the skin which is so rare for an SPF 50 …

Which of These 10 Concealers Is Best For You?

Finding the perfect concealer for your skin can be tricky. I’ve always resorted to YouTube to watch reviews of concealers to get an idea of what I might like. But sometimes a concealer that a YouTuber swears by doesn’t work the best for me! I’m sure you’ve experienced that too- so frustrating. That’s because everyone has unique skin needs. For reference: I look for concealers that cover my dark circles, last for hours, don’t exaggerate fine lines/creases, and look as skin-like as possible. Easy, right? Lol. Learn more about how to apply your makeup flawlessly HERE! To make this selection process easier for you, I’m going rate some of the most hyped concealers out there on a scale of 1-5 for those attributes that I look for. That way you can decide based on what matters to you most! Morphe Fluidity Full Coverage Concealer– $9 Coverage: 5/5 Staying Power: 5/5 Anti-Creasing: 5/5 Skin-Like Finish: 5/5 Overall Thoughts: This concealer is amazing. It’s somehow lightweight and full coverage at the same time. BUT it has a …

You Need These 9 Eyeshadow Palettes In Your Collection ASAP

Eyeshadow is easily one of my favorite makeup products. The way you apply your eyeshadow & the colors you choose can completely transform your face. It’s amazing. If you need some extra help in the eyeshadow department, I go super in depth on application steps in this video: I have gone through maybe 365 million eyeshadow palettes in the past 10 years, so I know a thing or two about eyeshadows that are actually worth the money. Here’s what I’d recommend: Best Bang for Your Buck Palettes: Morphe x Jaclyn Hill If you don’t have this, what are you doing?! It’s easily the best bang for your buck. The quality is unbelievable- amazing pigment, so blendable, a solid color selection & it’s only $38 for 35 shadows. It doesn’t get better girlies. Morphe 35F This palette is perfect for those of you that love shimmers. I personally wish it had another row of mattes, but all of the shadows are super pigmented & there’s a wide range of colors in the shimmer section. This is …

how to clean makeup brushes

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes Like a Pro

If cleaning your makeup brushes is not currently on your monthly to-do list, it needs to be. Letting old makeup gunk up on your brushes for long periods of time not only ruins your brushes, but it’s also a breakout waiting to happen. And don’t even get me started on beauty blenders & sponges- these things should be cleaned weekly to protect our skin from that bacteria fest. Cleaning your makeup tools doesn’t have to be such a pain, and the cleanser I use is under $3 (and it’s not even technically a brush cleanser)- baby shampoo! I use Target’s Up & Up baby shampoo, but literally any baby shampoo will do. I like using baby shampoo because I know it’s gentle & I don’t need to worry about it ruining the bristles of my brushes. Here’s how you do it: 1. Squeeze a generous amount of baby shampoo onto the head of your brush (or directly onto your beauty sponge) 2. Using warm water, swirl the brush into the palm of your clean hand …
